Spanish Bible

I have been doing some research for our Spanish ministries on the Spanish Scriptures. I have found that there are a few Spanish Bibles that are based off of the same texts as the King James Bible.

I am not a Spanish speaker, I am not here to offend anyone, but as an English speaker that is seeking to reach the Spanish I must look into this issue.

That being said, I am by no means a Spanish authority, but I do know the textual issues that are of utmost importance in the Bible debate. One could rightly say when it comes to Spanish this gringo doesn’t know what he is talking about, to that I readily admit, However, I cannot ignore the textual issue.  I could not come to know the truth about the Texus Receptus and the Masoretic Hebrew and the Critical texts and still carry my NIV, NASB, or any modern English translation.  Imagine if I called myself a Bible believing Baptist that knew that the KJB was God’s Word, and yet I wanted to continue to use my NIV because that was what I was accustomed to using. Would this be a correct Bible stand? I don’t think so.

That being said, In my research I have found three Bibles that honor and use the TR that are readable via a free Bible Program called E-Sword.  These are the RV 1602 Purificada, The RV 1865, and the RVG Bibles.

E-Sword can be downloaded here: http://www.e-sword.net/

1.) 1602 “Purificada” Bible can be downloaded here:

http://pastorspage.urbanbaptist.org/media/RV1602P.zip

Unzip this file and inside you will find an executable (.exe) file that will install the Bible to your already installed E-Sword.

You can purchase a RV 1602 Purificada here:  https://shop.avpublications.com/product_info.php?products_id=50&osCsid=8d5208dc73d8bf461cf38d78aedc675b

2.) Rena Valera 1865:

You can also download the RV 1865 for E-Sword here: http://pastorspage.urbanbaptist.org/media/RV1865.zip

To install the 1865 module, right mouse click on the link and choose “save as” to save it to your computer. Then “ unzip” or extract the files to the E-Sword directory file in your Programs files. On a typical Windows PC the path will look like this “C:\Program Files\e-Sword.” Once the RV1865.bblx files is in the E-Sword program directory file it will work the next time you start the E-Sword program.

You can order an RV 1865 Bible from:

Local Church Publishers: http://www.localchurchbiblepublishers.com/category/bibles/spanish/

3.) Rena Valera Gomez:

You can download the RVG (Rena Valera Gomez) on the E-Sword download section under the category “Bibles”.

You can order an RGV Bible from:

The Bible for Today http://www.biblefortoday.org/

Chick Publications: http://www.chick.com/catalog/books/1288.asp

As an English speaking pastor, I do not have enough understanding to take a dogmatic stand one of these Bibles over the other. I know good fundamental Spanish-speaking men that do stand on one or the other. I most certainly must take a dogmatic stand on the Texus Receptus.

  1. Hi Pastor David:

I want to let you Know that I apriciate your
stand and I pray God That many if not all
Inglish speaking Pastor`s will also onderstand
the responsability that we all have in
defending the textos reseptus the base for
    all translations

  2. Brethren, I appreciate your stand for the KJV! I would also like to add to the words of brother Jose Mojica, who I know personally, that the RVG has been a tremendous blessing to us here in Guatemala. I highly recommend it above all others. As a native Spanish speaker, I can say with full authority that God is blessing this Bible among our people here, and throughout Latin America. As we teach and preach to our Spanish folks, it is become evident how God is saving souls and strengthening them, and grounding them in the faith with our blessed RVG, truly equivalent to KJV, unlike others. God bless you as you serve Him!

  3. I appreciate your burden for the Spanish Bible, brother! You are correct in your comments regarding the Reina-Valera 1865 and Bro Gomez’ work with his. I met him awhile back and have since purchased his version from Bro David Waite’s ministry in NJ. I asked him if they had a Bilingual KJV Bible w/the Gomez version and he said they would soon. By know, no doubt they should have one. I have a KJV/RV 1865 Bilingual Bible also. While I do appreciate the Gomez Bible available @ E-Sword (assuming for the desktop PC), I wonder if they have a Droid phone application available? Right now I use the KJV “Cadre Bible” and in Spanish I am only able to find the Reina-Valera 1909. I plan on buying the “Nook Color” notebook soon and would like to know if you could check the Gomez Bible for it also.

As far as why the Spanish right NOW appear to NOT have the (TR/MH) Bible available one should note the effects of the EVIL Spanish Inquisition and it’s effects on God’s people & His Word. Satan was quite effective in that movement, unfortunately. THIS is a burden of much study for me quite a few years ago. While I do, as an ethnic Hispanic-American Christian, have a small issue with the Gomez Bible, I still appreciate it as THE best translation around next to the RV 1865 and perhaps slightly better. Much to thank God for, but there are Men of God MUCH spiritual and knowledgeable than I, of the Hispanic tongue who have issues with the Gomez Bible who are also Fundamentalists. I’ve learned that they are reluctant to peel themselves away from the perverted 1960 RV sadly.

    Thanks and may God bless…
    TCR

  4. I have downloaded the RV1865 for e-sword several times, but E-Sword does not see it. What can I do?

    • Hold on a moment Jonathan, I do not have either installed on this present PC. I will install it and see if I can fiqure it out!

  5. Jonathan,

Unzip the RV1865 file and inside is a file called “RV1865.bblx”

Copy that file and past it into the E-Sword file in your PCs “Program directory” on the C drive.

If you put it in the folder correctly you could see it the next time you open E-Sword.

    • Thanks, it worked!!!

      • Excellent! Glad to be of help!
