My name is David Peterman. I am the pastor of Christ Independent Baptist Church of Philadelphia. Our church’s website is www.cibc1.org. I am a 37 year old Bible-believing, independent Baptist preacher in the inner-city. Welcome to my little corner of cyber-space!

As a preacher, I have little to offer in the way of blogging but that which I feel would be most useful. I will leave politics to the politicians and talking heads of our day. I will simply blog about that which interests me the most, and that my friend is the inexhaustible resource called the Word of God! Most of the entries will be in sermon outline form (at least the outline I carry to the pulpit) so feel free to get your Bible and follow along! Some of the sermons also have the audio available at the top of the outline if you interested in hearing the sermon as it was preached. Sometimes the sermon preached resembles the outline, sometime it does not!
I have also added Baptist history books and articles from sources around the web to my blog. I hope they can be a challenge and encouragement as we consider this “so great a cloud of witnesses.”
Christ Independent Baptist Church is located in inner-city Philadelphia. This page was started to be a place where I can place my sermons, devotions, and thoughts. Eventually it will be incorporated into the church’s web page ( www.cibc1.org ) and this site will be relocated there.
I pray the thoughts, messages, and history materials here may be used of the Lord to be a blessing to you! If you’re ever in the Philadelphia area, I encourage you to check out the church’s website for service information and give a visit!
I think you’ve done great. I enjoy looking around the place and always find something thought provoking. Blogging is an underused resource by many pastors, but it is def growing. Paul Cahppell has a lot to do with that, I think.

hello i was actually considering visiting the church this sunday morning but i wasnt sure of the emaning of an independent baptist church?

If you want to know what an Independent Baptist church is let me explain as clearly and concisely as I can:
We are independent, meaning we are of no denominational affiliation.
We are Bible believing, in that we believe and practice the Word of God. Come out and visit us, you will find frindly folks that are glad to see you, you will hear traditional hymns sang to the glory of God, and you will hear straight Bible preaching from God’s Word the Bible.
We preach Jesus Christ, crucified, risen, and coming again. He is the only Saviour!
